Our History
Previously a school now the hub of the community
Our traditional village hall dates back to 1859 when it was a former schoolroom, adjoined to the schoolmasters house which is now a private residence. After the school was closed on the 25th March 1970, the building became a village hall for the community, run as a charity by a committee of volunteers.

Hemswell Village May Day Celebrations
Hemswell is one of the few remaining villages in the country with a static Maypole, situated in the heart of the village. Every year the local residents pull together to hold their annual May Day Event on the first bank holiday in May every year. This event is well known across the county and even further afield and has been running for nearly 50 years!

What’s On
Throughout the year we hold regular events in the village hall including craft markets, coffee mornings and even a unique Christmas Wreath making event.
